| When we need to express an action in progress, we use the gerund tense . In spanish this tense is made like this: verb "estar" + verb finished in "ando" / "iendo". We add the termination "ando" when the infinitive of the verb finishes in "ar" e.g.: yo estoy amando (loving) , tú estás caminando (walking) , usted está molestando (bothering), él está acampando (camping) , nosotros estamos esperando (waiting), vosotros estáis hablando (talking) , ellos están viajando (travelling) We add the termination "iendo" when the infinitive of the verb finishes in "er" or "ir" e.g.: yo estoy comiendo (eating), tu estás bebiendo (drinking), usted está tosiendo(coughing), ella está cosiendo (sewing), nosotros estamos diciendo (saying), vosotros estáis permitiendo (allowing), ellos están saliendo (leaving), ellas están haciendo (doing) Some verbs change the termination "iendo" into "yendo". e.g.: "Construyendo" (building), "leyendo" (reading), "cayendo" (falling) , "trayendo" (bringing) Usually, the verbs that end in Ir" also change the first "e" into "i" ---->e.g.: decir -> diciendo - venir-> viniendo |
